Some things are better written by hand.

Say what you mean in your own words — type it or speak it. We give it back as a letter on real-looking paper, in your language, in ink.

₹49 a letter · ₹99 for three

Do you remember those school days when we used to sit together? Life took us in different directions and we don't talk as much anymore, but somehow those little memories still make me smile. I don't know why I felt like writing this today... maybe some memories never really leave us.

— always

Four small steps

How it works

  1. 1

    Choose the moment

First love, a friend you lost touch with, an apology you keep postponing.

  2. 2

    Pick paper and pen

School notebook with a red margin, or tea-stained letter paper. Blue ink or black.

  3. 3

    Say it your way

Type a few rough lines or just speak. Any of eight languages, in its own script.

  4. 4

    Get your letter

Read it, unlock it, download it, send it. It looks like it was written by a person.

Old School Friend · English

First Love ·

Missing Someone · मराठी

You never made a big deal of it, so I won't either. But I noticed. Every single time. Thank you for being the person who stayed when it would have been easier to leave.

Thank You · English

Questions

What is Love Like Before?

It's a small workshop for handwritten letters. You give us the feeling in your own words — or your voice — and you get back a letter that looks like it was written by hand, on real paper, a long time ago.

How does it work?

Tell us who it's for and what you want to say, pick your language, your paper and your pen. We write it out and hand you back a letter you can download and send.

Can I use my own words?

Yes, and we'd rather you did. Rough thoughts are enough — we keep your meaning and just give it handwriting.

Can I speak instead of typing?

Yes. Tap the microphone and say it out loud, up to a minute. Speak naturally; we'll turn it into a letter.

Which languages are supported?

English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada and Punjabi at launch, each written in its own script. More Indian languages are on the way.

Can I choose the paper?

Of course. School notebook, plain, old diary, handmade, vintage letter paper, brown kraft and graph paper — the paper is half the feeling.

Can I choose the ink?

Blue, black, red or green. Fountain pen and pencil are coming later.

Can I download the letter?

Yes, once you've bought it. You get a high-resolution image you can keep, print or send.

Can I share it on WhatsApp?

Yes — one tap after purchase opens your phone's share sheet with WhatsApp and everything else.

Can I create another letter?

Always. The three-letter pack exists exactly for that.

Are my messages stored?

We store your letter only so you can come back to it. Nothing you write is sold, published, or used to train anything. Unpaid drafts are deleted automatically, and you can delete your letters yourself.

Can I get a refund?

If a payment goes through but we can't produce your letter, we'll regenerate it or refund you. Once a letter has been generated and downloaded, refunds are limited except where the law says otherwise. Duplicate payments are always refunded.

Can I use the letter commercially?

Letters are for personal use. Write to us if you want to use one commercially and we'll sort it out.

Can I make a letter for someone else?

Yes — for a friend, a parent, a partner, or on someone's behalf. You're responsible for what the letter says.
